Meet the team:

Byron Drinkle - Manager, Broadcast and Production

With almost 20 years of experience in the Film and Television industry, Byron Drinkle started with Genesis Matrix in April of 2008, where he leads the Broadcast and Production division. Byron was brought onboard to grow and re-invigorate the existing Matrix brand. Film and television production have always been a part of Byron's life. He informally started his career in the television industry while in high school, when he volunteered his time at a community TV station, and shot and edited for various events. In the early 90's, Byron completed the Media Resources program at Capilano University, winning both local and international awards for some of his work. Byron's production experience includes on-location film/video production, as well as coordination and management of the computer/video playback departments for various Hollywood TV series and feature films. Byron also spent many years successfully managing the camera and post production departments in the Vancouver branch of the largest HD video rentals facility in Canada. Byron applies his high level of organization, positive attitude, attention to detail, and professionalism to every client interaction. Byron's other passions are his two young daughters and spending time with his family.

Nathan Holley - Broadcast & System Sales Specialist

Nathan joined Genesis Matrix in May of 2008 as a Broadcast & System Sales Specialist, where he specializes in turn-key video system solutions for the broadcast, professional and cinematic world. Nathan started his career in this field in 2001, when he attended Film school at the Arts Institute of Vancouver. There he began building his technical camera and production knowledge. He then ventured into freelance videography and editing, working for a number of clients on films, commercials, documentaries, EPKs, music videos and live concerts, which included working on union film sets for a number of years. He also spent five years working as an HD Camera Technician & Service Tech at Plus-8 and Panavision, where he prepped and serviced high end cinematic video gear, engineered, serviced, and maintained multicam/camera chain equipment and provided technical support for on-set digital imaging technicians. Nathan's wide product knowledge and 10 years of industry experience allow him to serve his clients at the high level the industry demands. When Nathan is not working he enjoys playing ice hockey, basketball, golf and snowboarding in the winter season.

Lindsay Donovan - Pro Shop Sales

Lindsay has been with Genesis Matrix since March of 2010 as a Pro Shop Sales Specialist, facilitating independent to large budget films and television shows with the support and competitive pricing they need to make their productions run smoothly and economically. Between completing her degree in film & philosophy at Simon Fraser University and joining the team at Genesis Matrix, Lindsay has worked in the entertainment (or TV & FIlm) industry as an executive assistant and production coordinator. She has also spent time as a personal chef in Europe & Vegas, and has worked in the music industry in Manhattan. Aside from her love of travel and new experiences, Lindsay also loves 70s punk, spending time with her inspiring artistic friends and writing.

Mark Todorovic - Post Production/IT Specialist

Mark joined our team in September of 2009, when he was hired for the role of Post Production IT Specialist at Genesis Matrix. Mark has over fifteen years of experience working in the IT field, with the last 7 years relating to Post Production for the TV & Film industry in Vancouver, BC. Mark holds various computer & networking related accreditations, and is also certified by Avid Technology as Media Composer ACSR. Away from the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his growing family in the great outdoors, and cheering on the Vancouver Canucks.

Kelly Matovich - Broadcast Rentals Coordinator

Kelly joined the Genesis Matrix team in the spring of 2009. She had originally pursued a career as an industrial electrician in Ontario, and logged over 5000 hours into her industrial electrician ticket before deciding to pursue a career in the Film Industry in Vancouver. She attended the Vancouver Film School, and upon graduating put her skills to work in some of Vancouver's premier post production facilities. Some of the projects Kelly worked on at these facilities went on to win Emmy Awards. Kelly brings to the team, over ten years of post production experience, with a focus on broadcast television and Feature Film clients. Adding to her many years of management expertise, Kelly is now running the Rentals Department for Genesis Matrix. Here, she is able to put her considerable skills to work, while continuing to grow them in her spare time by helping to facilitate such projects as: The Coldplay Concert at GM Place and the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Kelly has also taken the opportunity to obtain her Open Water and Dry Suit Diving certification. Since then, she has performed the duties of First Assistant Camera on a number of underwater feature film productions. She plans to complete her advanced open water diving certification soon, with a focus on Underwater Photography. This enhanced skill set enables her to be a great resource for the underwater rental equipment that Genesis Matrix provides.

Tim Proctor - Rentals Coodinator

As the newest member of Genesis Matrix, Tim joined our team in February 2011 as a rentals coordinator. Specializing in cine style camera rentals, he happily provides a level of service above and beyond what is expected in this fast-paced and ever-changing industry. Since 2005, Tim has worked in the TV & film industry; assisting award-winning photographers shoot such artists as 54-40, Devin Townsend, and Gordie Johnson, and prepping camera packages and coordinating rentals for major motion picture and television series clients at Panavision. When he's not busy making a positive impact on the lives of all those renting from Genesis Matrix, he can sometimes be seen running through the streets of Vancouver with a camera on his shoulder for some independent feature or music video, or at his computer, editing said projects. Tim does not like olives - never has, never will.

Andrew Verwey - Senior Broadcast Technician

Andrew started with Genesis Matrix in May of 2011, where he now leads the Engineering and Quality control aspects of the shop. Andrew started his path in the Film & Television industry while in high school. He took a Media Studies course & volunteered his time at a local community TV station. In 2005, Andrew graduated with honors from the Television & New Media program at Loyalist College in Ontario. He was nominated for "Best overall student" and won the 3rd year "Best Production" award. For the past 6 years Andrew has been at Sim Video West. Starting off as a Prep Technician he quickly moved up and has spent 4 years as Engineering Supervisor where he maintained a high line of Cine equipment including Arri Alexa, Sony F35, RED MX and the Phantom HD high speed camera. Andrew was the first person outside of RED Digital staff to be certified on RED ONE repair. Andrew's attention to detail and quality means that all gear coming from the shop will no doubt surpass the client's expectations. In his spare time Andrew enjoys playing music and spending time in the outdoors of BC while camping or taking some twisties on his Triumph motorcycle.

Gabriel Forezli - Shipper/Receiver

Gabriel joined the Genesis Matrix team in December of 2010 following his graduation from the BCIT TV Broadcasting and Communications program. Within months, he had already secured his first award: 2nd place in the Vancouver Asian Film Festival - 30 Second Spot. As the shipper/receiver for the company, he efficiently handles the ebb and flow of our sales and rentals products, which travel anywhere from just around the corner to far off exotic destinations. His close attention to detail assures gear is where it needs to be, when it has to be there. Gabriel still freelances as a videographer and loves to direct and DOP his productions. He has recently been putting his production ideas and business savvy to work by concreting his first TV series.
